Writes Blake B. (L6th)
Last Friday, the Lower Sixth Phab Team organised and聽participated聽in a long-awaited, fun-filled Phab Club with the Biology Department.
Phab聽Club聽(which聽runs聽fortnightly聽with the Phab team), gives聽the guests聽who join us聽for聽Phab Week聽an opportunity聽to come into school on a Friday evening聽spend time聽with our volunteers, including some Lower Sixth girls from RMS, alongside promising the chance to聽participate聽in entertaining activities. Last week, this event was centred around the well-known extraction of the DNA from strawberries,聽alongside聽some animal聽handling, paper-plane making and, of course, some聽much needed orange juice and biscuit breaks.
Both聽boys and guests experienced heaps of amusement with some memorable events including one of the guests exploding a bag full of crushed strawberries all over the lab, a聽very popular聽visit from the school snake,聽Apollo, and one of our Lower Sixth volunteers, Agastya D., attempting聽to explain the experiment to some puzzled A-level biologists.
The Whole Phab Team would like to extend a huge thank you to Mrs Stuteley for orchestrating such an exceptional and enjoyable event.
