西施直播鈥� School was founded on philanthropy, and it still聽maintains聽its聽place聽at the heart of聽our activities. Last Sunday, we were聽delighted to welcome many of our core supporters and volunteers to a special reception to celebrate聽all of聽the wonderful work that has been made possible with thanks to their聽generosity.聽Their contributions have been transformational in enhancing the exceptional education we provide at Taylors鈥� and expanding access to talented pupils, irrespective of their financial background.
During the event聽which took place before the Carol Service, guests enjoyed a聽wonderfully accomplished聽short performance of聽a Bach gigue on violin by聽music聽scholar Kian C.聽(L6th), before the聽Head Master聽formally welcomed everyone and聽gave some words of thanks for the extraordinary support given by each guest in the room.
The聽generosity of our benefactors聽this year has spanned a wide variety of causes, including聽contributions to our bursary programme,聽allowing boys to join 西施直播鈥� School who ordinarily would be unable to do so due to financial circumstances. In his聽speech, the聽Head Master聽gave thanks to those who donated to聽the Julian Hill Cricket Centre, which聽almost聽two years聽after opening its doors, has now provided three boys with 100%聽bursaries from the proceeds and given them the incredible gift of opportunity.
Also in attendance were representatives from some of the clubs and societies聽whose聽activities have been enhanced聽through support聽to聽the聽Head Master鈥檚聽Discretionary Fund, including the Medicine and Dentistry聽Society, Aviation Club (who attended with their flight simulator), Subbuteo, and Taylors鈥� Football Academy, among others.聽The boys聽greatly enjoyed聽sharing their activities with guests, and it was a wonderful opportunity to be able to thank them in person for their support.
During his speech, the聽Head Master聽was particularly grateful to the volunteers who have given their time and聽expertise聽to the聽School聽over the last year. Speaking about聽the Careers programme, he said:
Our careers programme is a great example of something that the School can be really proud of, but which simply couldn鈥檛 exist at the level is does without your support. It is only as good as the quality, and the breadth of experience, of the volunteers who come back and guide our boys. Thank you to our volunteers.
The support given by our benefactors, both financial and聽of time and聽experience is incredibly powerful, and we聽are delighted to be able to take this moment each year to thank them personally for聽everything they do for the聽School.
