Writes Katie Buckhaven, Learning Support Teacher
The 西施直播鈥 Ukulele Club is striking a chord with students across the School, following a hugely successful recruitment drive led by Head of Lower School, Ellie Lemoine and Learning Support Teacher, Katie Buckhaven.
In a memorable performance during both the Lower School and Sixth Form assemblies, Ellie and Katie performed a promotional song specially written by Katie to showcase the fun, community spirit and musical opportunities offered by the club. The result was a record-breaking turnout at the following session, with students from a wide range of year groups eager to get involved.
Open to all year groups, the club meets every Tuesday during the Hour at the top of the Geography Block and offers students the chance to learn a new instrument in a relaxed and supportive environment. The club has welcomed many new members this term, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere each week.

Students are currently learning a variety of popular songs, including Stand By Me, La Bamba, Riptide and many more. With confidence and skills developing rapidly, members are already preparing for their next public performance at the January Tea Time Concert, where audiences will have the chance to hear the fruits of their hard work.
The club also benefits from the support and enthusiasm of staff musicians across the School, including Registrar, Gregg McCann, Marketing and Communications Manager, Nathaniel Ayling, Geography Teacher, Suzie Riddleston, Head of Lower School, Ellie Lemoine, and Learning Support Teacher, Katie Buckhaven.

Whether you’re an experienced musician or picking up a ukulele for the very first time, the Ukulele Club is proving that a few chords, a lot of enthusiasm and a willingness to give it a go can create something really special.
The Song
We thought you should know about a little club we’re running,聽
It’s called the Ukulele Club,聽
So do come along, every Tuesday in the Hour,聽
We’d love to teach you a song.
You don’t have to pay, so just make your way聽
To the top of the Geography Block,聽
We’ll see you right there,聽
‘Cause ukuleles rock!
